Get RV
Vision Payment Solutions Put GetRV.com out of business- It could happen to you too!!
GetRV.com has a policy of not participating in public, "anonymous" bashing forums. However, as a past employee in the know, I had to post this.
Those of you posting under multiple "anonymous" names take note, that works both ways. If you are attacking employees that were laid off because of this situation, I encourage you to stop.
For the record:
On the 6th of September, GetRV.com experienced $18k in charge-backs from our summer travelers for various reasons. It happens every September. GetRV.com switched credit card processors last November 2010, so the new processor had not gone through the end of the summer trend before. Vision Payment Solutions immediately with held 6 days of deposits for a total of $52,000.
Several calls to Sara Staro, "Risk Manager" at VPS, sara@***.com (877) 674-**** x 105 went unanswered for a long period. In the meantime, they continue to hold all deposits for credit cards processed by GetRV.com.
Since Sara Staro, "Risk Manager" failed to return calls, there were many calls sent to Thomas A. Stone, Chief Operating Officer for Vision Payment Solutions, LLC, 509 Forest Ave, Portland, Maine 04101 8**-**4-2286 x 102 email - tstone@***.com. Tom was unwilling to assist in any type of negotiation or work out a solution that would keep GetRV.com cash flowing and let them meet their "Risk" needs. Tom maintained the heavy handed dictatorial stance that they were not going to compromise their position.
GetRV.com borrowed a large amount of money so it could honor the existing reservations it was handling while Vision Payment Solutions continued withholding funds.
Finally VPS did release a small amount of funds, but continued to retain 5% of every daily deposit until the accumulated $160,000. On January 6th, with a 5 day notice, VPS decided to terminate their agreement with GetRV.com. They did not reach their $160,000 goal, but was able to withhold a large amount of that which they are still holding on to now.
Because the GetRV.com business is prepay, they could not pay vendors timely, because of the withholding by VPS. Vendors would immediately started contacting customers stating they had not been paid, and would not release the RV until they were paid direct from the customer. This perpetuated a lot more charge backs from customers which began spiraling out of control.
GetRV.com knew that if it got to the spring season they would be able to make up all that was lost.
GetRV.com was behind payments to their web hosts, so the website was shut on the 20th, of February. This stopped all email, bookings, and web presence. They were able to work out with the host company to turn it back on but by this time, there was a significant amount of damage done. The payment promised to the webhosting company did not clear because of additional charge backs. That day, the web hosting company shut down the site. It once again stopped all email and access to information on the web site.
The first week of March, there were more charge backs than bookings. Every time there is a chargeback, the funds are immediately taken out of the Getrv.com bank account even after a vendor has already been paid. Even though contractually obligated, no vendor has ever paid money back to Getrv.com for a disputed chargeback.
Finally unable to borrow any more capital to cover monies withheld by VPS and the snowballing charge backs by nervous vendors and customers GetRV.com had to make the extremely difficult decision to shut down the business and lay off their employees. After being in business successfully for nine years, working with Vision Payment Solutions was able to destroy the small business in six months.
GetRV.com took all the risk for credit card processing so their business partners could book more business. If you currently work with this company, take note. If you process credit cards, realize you are responsible for any time there is a charge back for up to 6 months after the transaction.
If Vision Payment Solutions had not continually withheld funds then GetRV would still be in business today.
The bashing on line by some of the same business partners of GetRV.com that enjoyed years of success with is unbelievable.
Put the blame where it really lies. There are many rental companies feeling the void now that GetRV.com is currently not booking business for them!!
GetRV.COM Out of Business?
Faced with complaints from both renters and owners, looks like GETRV.COM folded up and headed for the hills yesterday. No longer answering phones and the web sites down, debtors will be lucky to find any of these folks from whom to collect!
Troubles began last year, when renters' payments went into GETRV bank accounts and GETRV owners opted to slow or even stop payments to the RV owners...leaving debts in some cases over $25,000.
Bad press, price of fuel, bad management all left an unresolvable package their owners, Brian and Patti, simply couldn't face.
One has to seriously question the ethics of GETRV billing renters for rentals but keeping that money for their own needs rather than paying the owners for the RV. What...20% commissions weren't enough??
GETRV - seems to continue as RVRentalsDFW.COM
GETRV.COM TOOK MY MONEY
GETRV.COM
Please consider all available reviews and information prior to doing business with these people. The BBB of Dallas, TX has these folks with an "F" rating and over 40 complaints.
Online sources have many complaints for non payment of rentals. I did not do my homework prior to making reservations with these folks. My concerns began when they charged the full rental (2,100.00) to my credit card in January 2012 for the July 2012 reservation. Their paperwork indicates a 600.00 reservation fee would be all that would be charged.
I really began to look into these folks once they contacted me to changed credit card billing agencies. I contacted the RV owner whom has yet to be paid for rentals completed in 2011. He cautioned he might not be able to afford to keep a relationship with GETRV.com as they currently were past due on over 6,000.00. I put all of my concerns together and emailed them to GETRV.COM.
requesting the cancellation. I received a call from Jennifer"Jendi" Berkheimer who assured me all their obligations have been met. I insisted on canceling the reservation and received confirmation from her on January 26, 2012. With several follow up emails I received confirmation from Jennifer McBride "Controller" on February 1, 2012 that a full refund was being processed and a "credit memo" would be sent February 2, 2012.
Despite daily emails to GETRV.COM I have yet to see the promised refund. I have gone the route of challenging my credit card transaction. The only communication I receive from them are the "Read Receipts" from my daily emails. I will continue to pursue them.
Here are all their email addresses should you find yourself in a similar position......
Jim Orr = jorr@***.com Jennifer McBride = jmcbride@***.com Patty Heath = pheath@***.com Jennifer "Jendi" Berkheimer = jberkheimer@***.com . Hopefully you won't make the same mistake I did.......

Do not rent from GETRV.COM
To be fair - since posting this complaint, Get RV has been in contact with me, and is offering me a full refund on my rental price. This is great news, but being a realist, I am hesitant to believe it until I actually have a check in my hand... Once the refund has...
We rented an RV out of Las Vegas, and they connected us with a company out of Salt Lake City, UT (Family Adventures RV Rental - see additional posting). We selected a specific RV which suited our needs, paid for the reservation and then waited. The owner of the RV delivered the RV, but had not checked the basic systems - - while we were walking the RV in our driveway, we discovered that there were no televisions, the water tank had a major leak - so no water for the entire trip, the levelling jacks did not work, the step did not work, and the RV was rented to us in a state of complete filth (had not been cleaned in months). Not wanting to cancel our vacation, we accepted the RV, but have been trying to deal with GETRV.COM for months to get at least a partial refund for the trouble - they are impossible to deal with, very rude, most times they do not even answer the phone, they do not call back when they say they will call back.
All in all - this was a terrible experience. BEWARE!!!
Do not rent from www.getrv.com
Do not rent a RV from www.getrv.com. They are a bunch of crooks.
I have been trying for 4 months now to get my deposit back on a RV I rented. I took the RV back in better shape than when I rented it and still can't get my deposit. The company has made numerous promises that my deposit would be returned to my account, but no action.
The customer support is terrible, and just getting them to answer the phone is a feat in itself. If you value your hard earned money do not rent from them.

I have one question. Why was the money that was collected for the rentals not kept in a seperate account, as it belonged to the RV owners and not GETRV.
They should have been operating on the 20% that we were paying them to arrange the rentals.
I am tired of thier blame game - it was all very poor management and they are thiefs. God will hold them accountable.
I'm sorry, but why did they continue to rent campers, knowing full well they were not going to pay the vendors. AND, why all the emails - "your check is in the mail" for over 6 months!
Don't believe this nonsense - Jim Orr is now operating as RVRENTALSDFW.com.
We have finally gotten our court date Sept. 21st, 2012!!
This situation is so unfortunate. GetRV helped me break even on my RV and I always appreciated their business model.
ACH is always the way to go on deposits.
:( :x :cry :eek :? :?
:? DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHO SAID WHAT, WHAT MATTERS IS WE ARE OUT MONEY.
DOES ANYONE HAVE MONEY TO THROW IN THE TRASH????????? I DON'T !

Its all lies... They told me back in September that a bad employee started all this. They owe me money since September 11
Getthefactsright .. I would be interested in purchasing the "Viable Assets" of the former GetRV.com if they are willing to sell them ..
I am not interested in any of the "Liabilities".
Can you put me in contact with the "Legal Entity" that can assist?
Thanks
Rusty,
I totally agree with you .. I would be willing to bet that this post came from Jennifer or possibly Amy.
Brian and Patti would never reveal such details .. it's not their nature .. I loved the first line "GetRV.com has a policy of not participating in public, “anonymous†bashing forums." ..
Since GetRV.com is no longer in business and running from it's legal obligations to pay their vendors .. GetRV.com has no policy of any sort ..
If as the employees have stated they knew nothing of such details, this information would have to be from Jennifer, Brian, Patti or Amy. Why did GETRV close the Friday before I said I would start collections from our previous renters? Why did you gef $25000 behind in just our payments?
The processing firm says they have actions againt you...what's the truth?
